I took this picture off of my friend’s facebook. 

This is a picture of a lady that works at the 24-hour Burger King on campus and she’s probably the sweetest lady ever. Every day I’ve been there she never seems to be in a bad mood, which makes me simultaneously admire and feel guilty that someone her age is still working. I’m in college, I’m young, I complain and I get in bad moods, and here is this elderly lady, working a minimum wage job, who is happy and content with life. I’m envious. She’s found her place, whether or not it was her most desired destination, and she’s happy.She’s comfortable with herself. Here I am, upset about my vague future and impending finals, complaining about things that don’t go my way.

She definitely deserved those flowers she received from random UCSD students that day & yet she still deserves so much more for her pleasant disposition. The funny thing is, she seems to be perfectly content where she’s at; not wanting any more than what she has. That’s beautiful. 

I hope I can find that some day.

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH! and her! she is just too sweet and too cute. i cried the first time she helped me at bk. and this kind gesture made me cry too <3

One time, she noticed that I was in a hurry to catch the Regents shuttle but Burger King was taking a long time with my fast food. So she put extra soft serve on the ice cream cone I ordered. That small gesture made up the rest of my evening! :)

You only run across a few people like Mary in your lifetime.  I am blessed and privileged to have met her.  Though I rarely go to Burger King, whenever I do go, I always look for her.  I always wonder why she works and how she`s doing, but I never have the gall to ask.  What I do know is that her joy and willingness to serve with happiness, joy, and love fill me with happiness, joy, and love.
